Creating a Luxury Holiday Rental from the Ground Up

When we first met Jess at the 2025 Glamping Show, she was looking for more than a cabin supplier. She wanted a team that could help shape the entire project, from the earliest design decisions through to construction, delivery and completion.
The quality of the build was central to her decision. The cabin needed to feel substantial, beautifully finished and capable of becoming the hero of a completely new luxury holiday rental business. It was not simply accommodation; it would be the centrepiece of the guest experience and the foundation of The Wild Root brand.
Our joined-up design-and-build approach was equally important. With our designers, makers and project team working together under one roof, we could offer a more efficient and cohesive route from concept to completion. This allowed Jess to develop her interior vision alongside the practical requirements of the build, while keeping the process clear, coordinated and moving forward.
She arrived with a beautifully curated moodboard and a strong sense of the peaceful countryside retreat she wanted to create. Our role was to translate that vision into a high-quality, fully considered cabin that worked creatively, practically and commercially.
The Brief: Designing the Wild Root Cabin
Using our pre-engineered Signature Cabin as the starting point, our design team developed a highly customised scheme that combined Jess’s vision with our experience in cabin design, construction and hospitality.
With our designers, makers and project team working together from the outset, every element – from the layout and glazing to the materials and detailing – was carefully coordinated with both the finished aesthetic and the practicalities of the build in mind.
The result is the Wild Root Cabin: a contemporary rural retreat that showcases the flexibility and quality of our Signature Cabin range.
Key features include:
- A panoramic stargazing window above the bed
- Bespoke interior detailing, including a unique curved comfy reading ‘nook’
- Natural textures, including reclaimed timber panelling
- A spacious open-plan layout
- Premium finishes for year-round comfort

A Hero Luxury Holiday Rental
From the outset, we designed the Wild Root Cabin to act as the flagship accommodation on site – a distinctive hero cabin that would anchor the wider brand and give the business a strong visual identity.
Drawing on our experience in hospitality design, we developed the premium Signature Cabin as the flagship accommodation within the wider site. Positioned alongside the two shepherd’s huts, it adds a distinctive, higher-end offering that broadens guest choice, supports a premium price point and gives The Wild Root a powerful hero space for its marketing.
For hospitality businesses, a well-designed hero cabin can become far more than accommodation. It creates a memorable marketing asset, gives guests an aspirational space to book and helps a destination stand out in an increasingly competitive market.
From Workshop to Woodland
Earlier this year, one of the most exciting moments of the entire project arrived.
The completed cabin left our Devon workshop and was transported to site, where it was craned into position in a single day.
It’s always a milestone we’ll never tire of seeing. After months of design, planning and construction, watching a bespoke cabin take its place in the landscape is incredibly rewarding.
For Jess, it was the first opportunity to experience the space in person.

Since opening in summer 2026, it has been rewarding to see the Wild Root Cabin begin its life as the flagship of the wider business.
The finished cabin reflects what our joined-up design-and-build approach is intended to achieve: a distinctive, high-quality space that feels memorable to guests, performs commercially and sits naturally within its surroundings.
As the hero accommodation on site, it gives The Wild Root a strong visual identity while demonstrating how thoughtful design, considered detailing and quality construction can elevate the entire guest experience and brand.
