We thrive on creative challenges and building innovative spaces from our workshop and design studio in the heart of the South Devon countryside.
The beating heart of Life Space Cabins, our team of cabin creators, designers and innovators work collaboratively to shake up the cabin and small spaces world.
Meet our talented team

Jamie, our dynamic founder, is the driving force behind Life Space Cabins. He formed the company in 2016 to bring his passion for architecture and small space design to a wide audience. He loves the playful nature of cabins and ensures that ‘fun’ is incorporated into every design, be it through a sliding ladder, a pivoting wall, a drop down side or a curved roof.
The company has grown rapidly and Jamie has built up a fantastic team of designers and carpenters around him. A commitment to exceptional quality, architectural design and customer service underpins everything the company does. Life Space Cabins offer fully bespoke projects (where the sky is the limit) as well as a portfolio of cabin designs that can be customised to the unique needs of each customer.
Jamie’s passion for cabins has evolved from his love of camper vans. Jamie, his wife Kate and their son Ned have owned a number of VW Campervans and have taken them on travels around Europe and the UK. Jamie is at his happiest when enjoying the peaceful simplicity of these road trips.

Working within the creative sector for over 20 years, Kate has implemented a large number of business start-up schemes that have championed creatives to start and grow successful new enterprises across Surrey, Hampshire and Devon.
So when husband Jamie started Life Space Cabins it was a natural step for Kate to get involved. Wearing many hats for Life Space, Kate will be involved throughout your project from initial conversations to planning and purchasing, helping to bring new and exciting small spaces to clients across the UK.
Kate also enjoys nothing better than a peaceful afternoon in front of the fire after a good stomp on Dartmoor, where she grew up.

Oli joined us in the Summer of 2022. He brings to the team a robust knowledge of technical design and a meticulous attention to detail, having honed his skills at a renowned architecture and interior design practice in Devon.
Oli will feature in your cabin project from the initial design and planning through to the technical design development and specification stages. His passions lay with sustainable and responsible design and is a real asset to the Life Space Cabins team.In his leisure time, Oli is a vastly experienced Fell runner and typically thrives in the harsh, remote and natural environments in the UK and his home from home in the Alps

Joining Life Space Cabins in December 2024, Justin brings a wealth of experience in product design, spanning industries from science and technology transfer to marine, furniture, and composites. But at his core, he’s a creator—someone who loves the process of turning an idea into something real, functional, and beautifully made.
One of his biggest career highlights? Co-founding and growing Solidwool, a pioneering material business, alongside Hannah from 2014 to 2020. Taking an idea and transforming it into something tangible has been a recurring theme in his career, and it’s exactly what drives him at Life Space Cabins—making the highest quality products possible and being hands-on with the build process.
For Justin, the best part of being on this team is the energy and collaboration, especially working directly with the shop floor to see designs come to life. He thrives on both creativity and precision, balancing big-picture ideas with a love for detail.
Outside of work, he’s often off adventuring with his family in their converted Ford Transit van, surfing, or trying to find time to throw pots on his pottery wheel.
Fun fact about Justin: He once won the James Dyson Product Designer of the Year award—back when he had hair!

Joining the team in early November 2024, Nick brings a background in industrial design and innovation, shaped by years working at top-tier studios for some of the world’s biggest brands working internationally from Munich to San Francisco. With experience across consumer, medical, and industrial sectors, he’s tackled projects for some of the world’s biggest brands—earning Red Dot and iF Design Awards along the way.
His work is all about understanding people and finding novel ways to deliver value. Whether it’s wearable electronics, children’s toys, or life-improving medical devices, the process remains the same: deep research, rapid prototyping, and smart problem-solving. Beyond the products themselves, he thrives in the early phases of development—bringing clarity, creative energy, and a passion for nurturing a strong design culture within teams.
What does he love most about being part of this team? The colourful personalities and jaw-dropping projects. And what drives him? Seeing the team and business grow, pushing boundaries, and turning ambitious ideas into reality.
Outside of work, he’s all about exploring new places, playing guitar, and embracing life as a new dad—a role that might just be his most creative challenge yet. Oh, and don’t be surprised if you find a playful streak in his approach to work—because the best ideas often start with a little fun.
Fun fact about Nick: He’s designed everything from kitchen sinks to insulin pens—and even a mushroom kit.

Joining Life Space Cabins in January 2025, Emma brings a wealth of experience in administration, bookkeeping, and PA work, with a background spanning the military, commercial sectors, and self-employment. Serving onboard HMS Invincible to overseeing projects for Big Mouth Toys UK and launching Send-a-Cuddly, she’s no stranger to high-paced, dynamic environments.
One of her proudest achievements? Jointly leading the restoration of a Grade I listed church, managing fundraising and budgets for the entire project. She thrives on bringing structure, efficiency, and strategic growth to every role she takes on.
For Emma, the best part of Life Space Cabins is the fast pace and fun team, all working together to create high-quality, innovative designs that celebrate the outdoors. She’s motivated by being part of a British manufacturing business that values craftsmanship and adventure.
Outside of work, you’ll find her by the sea — either swimming or walking her dogs along the coast.
Fun fact about Emma: She once served as PA to the Commanding Officer of a Royal Navy aircraft carrier!

Kevin started his career on a carpentry and joinery apprenticeship and now with over 20 years of carpentry experience is a key member of the workshop team. He worked on construction sites before spending the last couple of years doing bench joinery and wood machining work. He loves the variety and challenge of his work at Life Space Cabins. No two cabin projects are the same, so every day in the workshop is different. As a local, he knows South Devon like the back of his hand.
In his spare time, Kevin does a lot of rallying as a navigator, and also works on fixing and repairing the cars. He runs a local road rally championship. He has a small workshop at home where he makes house signs, furniture and wooden toys for the local preschool.

Sam joined Life Space Cabins as a junior carpenter in 2022 and quickly became a vital member of the workshop carpentry team. Sam brings a strong work ethic and a practical, logical approach to every project. Now the site lead for all Hide Hut and Potager Hut installs, he’s known for his lateral thinking and problem-solving across te company.
Born just three miles from our South Devon HQ, Sam knows the local area like the back of his hand—from the best spot for a pasty and the quickest shortcuts through the lanes to exactly who to call for advice on a particular subject.

Christian joined us in December 2023 and comes with over 30 years of experience in bench joinery. Over these years Christian has gained a wealth of carpentry skills working on bespoke joinery projects for private and commercial customers using a variety of materials and finishes. Christian is proving to be a methodical and calm member of our team creating high quality work for our spaces.

Dom thrives on problem-solving. With a career that’s spanned everything from mental health advocacy to running kitchens, directing a skate park, and now carpentry, he’s always embraced a challenge head-on. Whether it’s fine-tuning a build, troubleshooting on-site, or supporting a teammate, he brings a hands-on, solutions-focused approach to everything he does.
Before joining the team in January 2025, he set up two cafés and an event catering company—learning first hand the art of balancing creativity with precision. But a love for making things led to a major career shift into carpentry, where he’s found the perfect mix of craftsmanship and problem-solving.
One of his proudest projects? Helping to bring Bridport Skate & Ride to life, creating a space that brings people together through sport, creativity, and community. Beyond the build itself, his impact has always extended to the people he works with—offering support and advocating for mental health in the workplace.
Outside of work, Dom is always creating—whether it’s DJing, walking, gardening, or making art. He brings that same energy and curiosity to the team, where the mix of hard work, creativity, and camaraderie keeps him inspired. What motivates him most? Exciting new projects and, of course, Kev.

James thrives on a challenge. His career has taken him from roofing, cladding, and remodelling to running a dive shop in the Dominican Republic, training scuba instructors in Vietnam, and even paddling the entire length of the Mississippi in a canoe. Whether he’s fine-tuning a build, leading a team, or tackling a complex project, he brings strategic positivity and a results-driven mindset to everything he does.
Before joining the team in February 2023, James worked as a PADI Master Scuba Diving Trainer and dive shop manager, pulling a business out of the Covid downturn and back to profitability. His work has taken him across three continents—building, training, and problem-solving along the way. But carpentry has always been a natural fit, combining craftsmanship, creativity, and the satisfaction of making something tangible.
One of his proudest projects? Building a BBQ in Jamaica—because what’s better than good food and great company in a space you built yourself? For James, the impact of his work goes beyond the materials; it’s about creating something lasting, whether that’s a well-built structure or a strong team dynamic.
Outside of work, you’ll find him scuba diving, tending his garden, or making mead. He brings that same curiosity and hands-on energy to the team, where the flexibility and (most importantly) the coffee machine keep him motivated. What drives him most? Power tools, a big hammer, and his son, Seb.

Brad’s career path has been anything but ordinary, but somehow, it’s led him exactly where he’s meant to be—with the Life Space Cabins team. After graduating with a degree in architecture, he set himself a challenge: to become a true multidisciplinary designer—someone who doesn’t just sketch ideas on paper but understands how materials come together, how tools shape them, and how to solve the unexpected problems that arise along the way.
Over the years, he’s dived deep into sustainable building, heritage carpentry, bespoke joinery, and even launched an award-winning illustration business. But what he loves the most is creating small spaces and finding clever ways to squeeze every ounce of functionality and fun into one space. He likes to take a brief and stretch it to its fullest, seeing a client’s eyes light up at an idea they never saw coming is what gets him out of bed.
Brad’s been hands on with everything from mountain bothies to houseboats and even an even Iron Age roundhouse but his proudest project was designing and hand crafting his own cabin inspired campervan.
When he’s not designing or creating Illustrations, you’ll find him travel sketching, climbing, mountain biking, tackling multi-day hikes, or (somehow) managing to surf despite being landlocked. He’s happiest when roaming new places in his van, Forrest…
