    Specifications and FAQ

Have a read of the specifications and FAQ. Your cabin journey always starts with a conversation with the Life Space Cabins team to ensure you get the perfect cabin for you. We are expert cabin designers and makers who build to the highest standards.
    • Delivery

The Dart will either be prefabricated in its entirety in our workshops in Devon, arrive on a lorry and be lifted into place. Or, we will bring all the elements and construct it on site. We will need to understand the site access first in order to make the best plan. We pride ourselves on finding a solution.
    • Installation

We will plink and plonk it in your chosen location... But seriously, we will take full responsibility for installing your cabin so that it feels like the easiest process in the world. Some aspects can be site specific and will need a unique solution. Connections of services are also site-directed and we can advise what you would need, or Life Space Cabins can take responsibility of this element.
    • Foundations

We work with a national award winning ground screw company to give an efficient, cost effective system which avoids the need for any concrete legacy or mess. Usually the foundations for a Dart Cabin can be installed in less than a day. We love this! In most circumstances a ground test is needed to analyse the suitability. If ground screws aren't practical for your site we have many other options available so don't worry!
    • Permissions

The Dart, thanks to its curved roof, falls within the planning criteria of a 'caravan' or under permitted development. Planning permission is based on the physical attributes of the structure AND the intended use. If you intend to use for your own private purposes then this will require different permission to use as a rental holiday let such as airbnb. We will advise on a case by case basis. While we are well versed in different planning strategies and processes, we don't claim to be experts. We can introduce an expert planning consultant expert to assist if your project requires it.
    • Smart Cabin

Whether it be a drop down cinema screen, automatic blinds or mood lighting we have specialists to help achieve this. If you would like the cabin to be off grid, movable, ultra low energy with heat recovery systems or linked with a wider system spanning multiple units we can help.
    • Case Study

    • Site Visit

A site visit is critical for most projects but in this modern age of video calls, WhatsApp shared photos, Google Maps and street view we can get a 'good' understanding of the site location and access. From which we can compile a 'good' assumed plan for budget costing. Prior to a manufacture order being made, we will come to site and finalise a installation strategy.
    • Materials

A fully insulated curved corrugated roof. Timber clad (UK sourced larch) and left to naturally silver. High grade thermally efficient windows and doors. Painted timber-panelled interior walls and plywood ceiling. We offer you the option to customise your cabin or you can choose from our recommended finishes. We really enjoy materials and are happy to work with almost anything!
    • Customisation

The Dart allows you to unleash your creativity by customising the finish and functionality to your own specific needs and tastes. Choose from exterior material options for the walls and roof, and details like guttering, window colour and style. The interior can also be personalised from our range of options. These include birch plywood, Orientated Strand Board or painted timber cladding slats. Just ask if you have a particular want- anything is usually possible!
    • Building Regulations

It is recommended that a space for sleeping is usually specified to a building regulations level of performance or is classed as a 'caravan'. The latter carries the benefit of reduced VAT. The Dart Cabin can perform to building regulations, the definition of a caravan or simply an office 'outbuilding' spec. Call us to discuss your project and your needs 01364 705057
    • Heating and Cooling

All our spaces are built to a very high specification. You can enjoy our cabins year round and without having to burn your book collection to stay warm! We exceed current building regulations levels of insulation into the floor, walls and roof. If the fabric of the building is well detailed, air tight and well built then the space will be more comfortable and require less energy to heat/ cool (obvious really!). We can install wall hung panel radiators, underfloor heating, a log burner and heat recovery to suit your needs, project location and budget.
    • Size Options

The Dart is available in a 3.4m width which is just less than the 3.5m maximum width that can be 'easily' transported on UK roads. The length is available in modules of 1.22m so you can choose the length best suited to your needs. A twin chassis (double the width) can offer spaces of 6.8 wide - again by the the same 1.22m length modules. The height is limited to an interior height of 3.05m from finished floor level to internal ceiling height. If you need any other dimensions please call on 01364705057
