For Mike and Vickie Ward they soon learnt that building their dream home was not for the faint hearted.
They wanted to avoid having to live in a caravan or mobile home during the self-build so along with Roderick James Architects
and Carpenter Oak
they came up with a plan…
Part of their plan was to build a micro cabin that was well insulated, beautiful and a sustainable construction that they could live in comfortably whilst the rest of the house was being built.
The best bit about this plan was that the cabin would eventually become part of the final house. Genius.
With the cabin going up in a matter of weeks it enabled them to gain a ‘preview’ of life in the rest of the house, A fantastic way to experiment with what works and what doesn’t.
